SUMMARY:Where is the Serbian Revolution heading?
DESCRIPTION:This lecture explores the origins of the ongoing protests in Serbia – both their immediate triggers and their deeper historical roots\, reaching back to 1968. It also examines the current challenges faced by students and their supporters\, including political repression\, media control\, and civic disillusionment. \nThe focus will be on the potential for imagining and enacting new political futures. With the liberal democratic trajectory once promised by the EU now increasingly occluded\, and Serbia grappling with multiple crises that hinder its transition to a stable democracy\, can a new path emerge? \nThis lecture approaches the question through the lens of radical democracy\, paying special attention to the role of student activism and broader movements of solidarity that are seeking to reconfigure the political landscape from below. \nInput and discussion with Tamara Kamatović.
